How to Get the Most Out of Whirl

Here are some best practices to make your Whirl practice sessions as effective as possible.

Practice Consistently

Just like a sport, interview skills improve with repetition. Aim for at least 3 sessions per week leading up to your interview. Whirl tracks your streak to keep you accountable.

Use Real Job Descriptions

When setting up a session, paste in the actual job description from the role you're applying to. This gives Whirl the context to generate the most relevant questions possible.

Mix Up Your Interview Stages

Don't just practice behavioral questions. Do a Technical session, then a Screening, then a Hiring Manager round. Real interview processes have multiple stages โ€” prepare for all of them.

Increase Difficulty Over Time

Start at Medium difficulty to establish a baseline. As your scores improve, move to Hard and then Expert. Practicing under pressure makes the real thing feel easier.

Review Your Scorecard Carefully

After every session, spend time reading the feedback in full. Study the improved sample answers and note your weakest metrics. Target those specifically in your next session.

Use Video Mode Before Important Interviews

At least 48 hours before a big interview, do a full Video Mode session. This forces you to practice your delivery, not just your content.

Record and Reflect

Watch your video recordings with fresh eyes. You'll catch things you never noticed โ€” filler words, nervous habits, pacing issues โ€” that are hard to self-diagnose in the moment.
