The STAR method is the gold standard for answering behavioral interview questions. Whirl's AI evaluates your use of this framework in every session.
S — Situation Set the scene. Describe the context of the situation you were in.
T — Task Explain the challenge or responsibility you faced.
A — Action Describe the specific actions you took. Focus on your role, not your team's.
R — Result Share the outcome. Use numbers where possible ("increased sales by 20%", "reduced bug count by 40%").
Question: "Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult coworker."
Situation: "At my previous job, I worked with a colleague who frequently missed deadlines, which was affecting our team's deliverables."
Task: "As the project lead, I needed to address this without damaging the working relationship."
Action: "I scheduled a private one-on-one to understand if there were blockers I wasn't aware of. I discovered they were overloaded with undocumented tasks, so I worked with our manager to redistribute the workload."
Result: "Within two weeks, their deadline adherence improved significantly, and we delivered the project on time."
